Metabolic Profiling
Metabolic Testing evaluates how efficiently the body produces, sustains, and recovers from physical effort — helping us understand capacity, training response, and physiological readiness.
By combining lactate testing, heart rate monitoring, and biological profiling, we build a detailed picture of our fitness and where performance limitations may exist.
For teams, we can manage testing and monitoring across an entire squad. For individuals, it provides a clear understanding of aerobic fitness, training zones, recovery, and how to train more effectively.

Lactate Testing vs Smart Watch Predictions
The goal is to understand your personal fitness and energy demand to guide training.
Lactate testing measures this. Smart watches estimate it.
And these estimates are not very accurate…
Frontiers in Physiology research in 2025 found:
- Smart watches fail to predict thresholds up to 53% of the time.
- And fail to estimate the corresponding power/speed 25% of the time.
What does that mean? If you use a smart watch to guide your training, your intensity will be inaccurate and your progress will be limited.
Proper testing is the difference between knowing how to train and guessing how to train.
What You Get With Us
Accurate Training Thresholds
Aerobic capacity and lactate thresholds are mapped against your heart rate and effort level. So not only do we know which areas of physical fitness you need to work on, we also know exactly how to do it.
Training Adaptation Insight
Because our testing is accurate and reliable, we can trust the changes we see. We give you clear insight into how your fitness has improved, or what you still need to work on. Tracking this data over time allows you to prepare for events and ensure peak readiness.
Team Profiling
If you’re a coach managing a team, we can use this type of fitness testing to accurately profile your squad. This is particularly effective and insightful during pre-season to ensure readiness for competition and evaluate preparation.
What is the Testing Process
- You complete interval training with incremental power increase
- We take a quick capillary blood sample at each interval
- We test the sample instantly at each interval
- You get same day results at the end of the test
Why Choose Us?
The Performance Drive Cross-System Analysis
Lactate testing is popular, but can be performed or analysed in a way that produces unreliable and ineffective decisions.
A “right shift” can be increase in aerobic capacity / increased mitochondria dense tissue OR just an increase in lactate dilution space / increased body water or fat tissue.
A “left shift” can be a decrease in aerobic fitness OR an increase in lactate producing type 2 muscle fibre density from power training
Without context you can reach 2 opposite conclusions from the same set of results.
To ensure we come to reliable conclusions – we can test all of this.
We cross reference lactate data with heart rate, body water, segmental muscle mass and effort level – contextualised against current training, gym programme, and development goals.
We go the extra mile because your results matter.
